Pathfinder Renewable Energy has started to establish the supply chain to provide a low cost, ecologically sound fuel as a reliable alternative to less environmentally friendly types of energy.
Pathfinder Renewable Energy has been formed from a cooperative of local producers in Monmouthshire, to procure, process, dry, store and supply bio-mass wood chip fuel for small industrial and medium sized boilers for hot water systems, central heating, air conditioning, and Combined Heat and Power.
This will enable end users and suppliers alike to make their own contribution to reducing carbon emissions and Wales’ dependence on imported fossil fuels. At the same time, this business will make use of a previously much under utilised renewable bio-mass fuel in the form of chipped waste wood, saw mill off cuts and tree surgeons pruning’s and thinnings. Pathfinder’s typical customers will be local authorities (schools, offices and leisure centres etc) hospital trusts, hotels, industry (factories) and new housing estates.
Wood chip is a low cost, local, renewable low carbon fuel. Wood chip boilers today are reliable, highly automated, greener than fossil fuels and wind and, make use of an otherwise wasted natural resource, which is abundant in Wales. Pathfinder Renewable Energy will provide its suppliers with an ecologically sound outlet for their waste timber and off cuts which are becoming increasingly difficult to dispose of; now that burning and landfill has become more or less unacceptable.
