Helping To Reduce Greenhouse Gasses

Eco Friendly Developments

Pathfinder supplies virgin ecologically sound sustainable fuel; in the form of locally sourced wood chip; as a reliable low cost alternative to less environmentally friendly types of energy.

The company has recently agreed terms to form a close working relationship with EGNISCO an established company based in North Wales, in the business of providing a low cost carbon neutral solution for your space heating and hot water requirements. Pathfinder has established the supply chain to procure, process, dry, store and guarantee the supply of uncontaminated biomass woodchip fuel for Hot Water, Central Heating and Air Conditioning, Boilers and Combined Heat and Power plants (CHP). It currently supplies over 1500 tonnes a year of woodchip to customers in South Wales and is the first and only biomass fuel producer in the principality to secure accreditation under the Woodsure Quality Assurance Scheme.

Pathfinder is now well placed to make a big impact on the biomass industry in Wales in the coming years. The tie-up with EGNISCO allows us to expand our offering to include consultancy, design, equipment supply and installation and advice on the new Renewable Heat Incentive grant (R.H.I.).  Whilst Pathfinder will bring to EGNISCO a wealth of experience in wood fuel production as well as a trusted partner for its ESCO activities in the south of the country.  We will undertake heat load calculations, site surveys and feasability studies to determine whether a biomass system is appropriate.  If it is we can provide detailed designs, technical advice and project management.  We will guide and support you through the whole project from concept to commissioning.  You have the reassurance of knowing that we will invest our own money in installing and operating the system and sell you "the heat" on an ESCO basis or sell you the whole system outright.

The company was originally formed from a co-operative of local woodland owners, tree surgeons, forestry and sawmill operatives in Monmouthshire. It has established the supply chain to procure, process, dry, store and guarantee the supply of clean sustainable biomass woodchip fuel for Hot Water, Central Heating and Air Conditioning, boilers and Combined heat and Power plants (CHP).

The recycling of virgin wasted timber provides an ecologically sound outlet for off cuts, thinnings and arisings which are becoming increasingly difficult to dispose of now that burning and landfill has become more or less unacceptable. Furthermore, the use of coppice, thinnings and forest residue as a fuel for biomass boilers will add value to woodland management in Wales and will enhance the local community's "green footprint". It will also create jobs and provide a sustainable alternative energy source to help reduce Wales's dependence on expensive imported fossil fuels and other wasteful and/or more expensive trendy alternatives.

Our goal is to help customers improve their "green credentials". Customers will be drawn from architectural practices, property developers, local authorities, housing associations, town and county councils, PFI and other companies or private individuals, any whom might be considering a district heating scheme, a woodchip fuelled boiler or Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system. We want our customers to work with us to complete the virtuous circle (see pie chart on the about us page) of recycling wood and, at the same time, help raise the levels of social responsibility in the area.
